Richard's great faith was an inspiration to our family. Many Sundays at St. Johns, Richard celebrated his love of God with her readings from the Bible. As the Good Book says "I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die". John 11.25-26.

As Richard's friend and stockbroker for the past 6 years I developed a close relationship with Richard. It started when we were both on the Rogers Middle School Foundation. We sat together and always disrupted the meeting with our conversations. There were times Richard would bring Sophia with him to the meeting. It just doesn't seem that long ago. My deepest condolences to the Smithson family members. I first met Richard when we were both undergraduates. We shared a friendship, which was one of the most cherished memories of all my years spent in Tallahassee.
